What is Ananda Manyu Yoga?
Ananda Manyu was created as a culmination of my work over the years. Throughout my life, I've known that life is to be enjoyed. It's not about your age, size, or flexibility, but about the joy you connect with as you live your life! Yoga has and always will be the engine that started it all for me... un-peeling the layers of self doubt, negativity and busy-ness that distracts me from myself. When I'm more myself I spread the joy to others more effectively and compassionately. This is true for everyone!
I've always believed that yoga is for Every Body (and to be honest over the years I've had a lot of different shapes myself). This new venture of Ananda Manyu Yoga dives deep into these beliefs of working with the body you have today. This minute. Doing poses in a way that feeds your soul. (If you get a nice bum in the process - BONUS!) Feel better mentally and emotionally as well as physically.
Ananda Manyu teachers learn about compassion in teaching. Understand that people practice yoga for many reasons - and we are there to guide them along the way by being REAL and relatable and joyful.

Ananda Manyu Teacher Training
To teach yoga or any other healing modality, it's important to recognize that it is, in it's foundation, spiritual work. As we work from our own truths and uncover our own best self we are able to share that with others.
This yoga teacher training will provide you with the confidence to teach a variety of students - not just a fitness based class of poses, but to actually teach yoga in it's full meaning and benefits.
Confidence, individual style, knowledge, experience; all of these will be taught to you in this training. You'll be prepared, as a new teacher, for any student who walks into your class. You'll learn to make your teaching style your own. How to make your classes enjoyable, challenging, meaningful for all levels of students.
The 200 Hour Basic Level training will prepare you for teaching primarily vinyasa, with elements of yin, restorative and hatha styles of yoga. You will learn about physical anatomy for yoga, pose sequencing, and the power of energetic exchange. You'll learn what your special gift is for teaching yoga and you'll learn to refine that gift to serve others. You'll build a community with your fellow trainees that will change your life.
The 300 Hour Advanced Level training is for serious teachers and students. A 200 hour training certificate is required. Teaching experience is recommended, but not required. This is where we dive deeper into knowledge of poses: alignment, progression, preparation and variation. We learn more from the ancient texts and stretch our comfort zones as teachers. Building courage, compassion and deeper connection in our teaching. This program meets for 2 weeks in August 2019 and 1 week in August 2020. A praticuum and research will take up the months between with regular online meetings.
Often people comment that teacher training is very different than what they had imagined. It's harder, there's more information and it's challenging in a different way than they expected. You will come out of this training, whether you decide to teach or not, with a stronger sense of who YOU are. With a stronger connection to your yoga practice. With a stronger sense of your purpose. With a stronger confidence in yourself and your relationships. With a more Joyful Spirit (Ananda Manyu) - to live your life more fully.
Ananda Manyu also keeps the training classes small. This ensures you'll have focused attention and assistance from the instructors.

Testimonials from Past Teacher Trainings
"There was only one place I was going to get my 200 hour yoga teacher training certification, that was with Mary Ellen Goodsir. Her teaching style has always been down to earth, filled with humor and with the intention of both uplifting and grounding the student and I trusted that she would take the same care with her teacher training. In choosing the training at Yoga Moves I made the right decision. The training is a stepping stone for learning more about the practice even if you never teach.
There is also a comfort level that you get from taking your training at a studio that you enjoy going to. You know the people and the atmosphere that you can expect in your classes.
The training touched on all the important aspects of a safe and positive yoga practice - from the spiritual to the physical. It also provided practical information on the relationship between the poses and anatomy. Also, guidelines were given on postures and sequencing which help a beginning yoga teacher structure a class appropriately.
I highly recommend both Yoga Moves as a studio, Mary Ellen Goodsir as a yoga teacher. Her guidance and support of both my yoga practice and my practice as a teacher has been invaluable to me." Farah Smith 2010 Graduate
"Something I wish I knew before hand, how it would truly change my life... you can't go back to before you were exposed to what yoga truly is. The bonds that I made, the experiences that I had (and continue to have) all has changed me for better. I have a different perspective of myself as well, and who I am and what's important to me. I learned about yoga but I didn't realize I would learn so much about myself too.
Something I LOVED about training... the group! You quickly shake off the "spending a weekend with strangers" after the first few hours on that Friday. You will meet amazing people and build friendships and bonds that you will always have in your life. The yoga womb is real!" Ericka Mochi 2016 Graduate
"Somebody recently asked me how my life has changed most in the past 10 years. Without a doubt, one of the most defining life changing events has been the continuation and growth of my yoga journey and my yoga teacher training with Mary Ellen. At first, I joined the training program for personal development; but as the weeks and months progressed, I noticed my mindfulness and spirituality broadened. I started viewing life through a different lens. Then Mary Ellen taught me how to begin incorporating mindfulness and breathing into my daily life. At this point I started to really understand what yoga was about. This training helped me become a better and more evolved version of myself. I would highly recommend and encourage training with Mary Ellen if you are interested in growing your understanding of Vinyasa, building a stronger practice, incorporating mindfulness and meditation into your daily life, meeting incredible people from all walks of life, and overall looking for a judgement free, highly talented and incredibly experienced teacher. She was able to incorporate her knowledge and past experiences effortlessly into our training and for that, I am grateful that I trained with her!" Jeff Sulloway, 2018 Graduate
"When I moved back to Stoneham in 2015 I began to look for opportunities to join a yoga community to share my practice. Meeting Mary Ellen Goodsir, as I am sure many of you will agree, was life-changing. Mary Ellen became my teacher, and mentor, I joined her teacher training program in the fall of 2017. She introduced me to an in-depth study of the history and philosophy of yoga that transformed my practice. Mary Ellen has shared her lineage and knowledge through an expertly guided teacher training curriculum and continues to support me today, With just a glance at Mary Ellen's bio you can't help but be impressed with the years and thousands of hours of teaching and training. Mary Ellen has touched the lives of so many yoga practitioners and students. Her training is a uniquely thorough and transforming experience. I am grateful to her for sharing her gifts, time and talent with me. Because of Mary Ellen, I was able to purchase Yoga Moves and find the confidence, in my own gifts and talents, to continue to nourish and grow the community she worked so hard to create."
